Hour of Darkness

I have green leanings. I will not pretend that I'm super green, but I certainly want to preserve and not destroy my planet and resources. I drive a hybrid (for one whole day), I usually do not get shopping bags but use a backpack or canvas, I collect recycling to take to a recycling center because Chicago cannot be bothered with an actual recycling program.

But I also will probably never give up eating cows who are bred on ranches that create a huge amount of waste. I drive a minimum of 200 miles a week. I have the TV on in the background almost every moment I am at home.

So, I get environmentalism but like most people, I try not to let it interfere with my everyday life too much.

The whole hour of lights out tonight was weird. I felt like I needed to participate because it is the impact of everyone doing it at once that makes the difference....but I am home this weekend...alone....and have about 2 weeks worth of work to get through. (I'm not sure how that's happened but the work load is immense right now.)

I found taking a break to be very stressful. I fretted. I tried to relax by taking a bath in candle light. I was starting to drift away and relax. And then the buzzer to my dry went off. Very loudly. Oops

Totally random side note. I really prefer to write in Comic Sans MS. That is my font. That is me. It really bothers me that this font isn't available to blogger so if someone can tell me what I can do to make that happen, I'd appreciate it.

I soundly ignored the hour of darkness. I contemplated doing it, but then I thought about trying to explain to a 4 year old what it was all about, and what he was going to do in the dark for an hour.

From a friend's perspective, i am sad you can't type in your desired font. From a designer's standpoint, I am happy you cannot type in Comic Sans. Comic Sans is, one of, if not THE most universally hated font in all of designing.

It's pretty..but too elaborate for everyday use. I'm not very flashy.

Ooo, I do like. It feels as if I stepped into a Disney fairytale, circa 1950. But I agree with Rae about it being more for special occasions.
