5k

I ran a 5k today. Robbin signed me up in September to motivate me to get moving. I was following a Runner's World Running Plan up until about 2 weeks ago. And i haven't run since then. I was busy; I was lazy; I was in NY; I was getting a cold. Always an excuse. I think I would have tried to convince Robbin not to "make" me do it; since I was so unprepared. However, I did much better than I thought I would! I did not notice a single mile marker & was not tracking time; instead listening to music. If I had actually trained these last 2 weeks, I think I would have been at 10 minute miles. I was at 11 and had loads of energy at the end. woo hoo for me.

Congratulations! Now you can hibernate during the winter months without feeling an ounce of guilt. Perhaps Robbin can sign you up for the marathon next year.

that's awesome!

I'm toying with the idea of running the Turkey Trot if it's not icy/snowy that day and I'm feeling okay. You should think about it, too, they have registration on-site and they don't use timer chips or anything, so it's really just a fun run.

Thanks Chris & Kathy! I'm not sure I'm up for a marathon..ever...way too much training involved.

I might be up for the trot. I think they are using chips this year.

Oh. Damn.

I really don't want a timed result. I realize I could just never look it up, but knowing it was out there, I'd HAVE to look.

Oh! Boo! You'll be 9 mos pregnant; I think that means you are allowed to move slower. There is also one in EP, which may not be timed.

Oh, that's the one I was talking about! Were you talking about the one that starts at Goose Island? That's an 8k, I think. the Edison Park has never had chips and is super laidback.

Woo hoo, Rae! If you do an EP 5K, I might join in. Of course, I'll be about 10 minutes behind you two, so wouldn't technically be running WITH you, but it might be a good way to be re-motivate.

I think my confusion came from Robbin wanting to run the 8k. I'm not sure I'll be ready for that in 4 weeks. Let's do the EP one! Woo hoo.
