You sweat like crazy at night. I have to imagine this is what hot flashes will be like 20 years from now. At night I've taken to putting m hair up and pulling it back with a headband as if I'm about to go run 3 miles; not get ready for my sleep/ up with baby cycles.
You lose weight really fast. I gained 30lbs. I've lost just over 20lbs since giving birth 17 days ago. I realize that the baby was about 8.5 lbs of that weight, but that's still crazy. Getting back to your pre-pregnancy weight doesn't seem to be as big of a challenge and trying to get something similar to your shape back.
Your boobs get crazy. Now, I'm not talking about people who say, "my boobs got HUGE. I wear a DD now." If you can still buy bras at VS or Target or anywhere that isn't a specialty store, this is not quite the same. Yes, I'm sure it's very different than what you had before. But I just barely fit into most blouses, L fitted T-shirts, etc. Now I'm up a band size and 2 cup sizes and most of my t shirts don't fit. Shortly after giving birth for the first time, my friend Donna said to me with almost tearful eyes, "Oh my God, they get so big." I have a much better understanding of what she was warning me about now.
Luckily, I live in GA, where it is already warm enough on some days to wear tank tops, which do fit. But because of the night sweats? All broken out on chest with little red bumps. Awesome new mom look. I did finally receive 2 bras from bare necessities yesterday....my Lord, I have missed underwire. And I'm so glad we'll be hanging out again on a daily basis.
Then there are the hips. I did not sign up for these. They served a purpose to help the baby through, now they can go away again. They are making it very difficult to imagine myself ever fitting again into my wide collection of Gap and JCrew pants/ jeans.
On the plus side, almost immediately after giving birth...I stopped having acid reflux and the blemishes that I blamed on Gerald cleared up.
Oh, and I have an awesome amazing adorable son whose due date is today and I couldn't imagine having to wait this long to meet him.

did I not warn you about the night sweats? nobody warned me and I found it to be an extremely unpleasant surprise. I was really mad that I didn't know it was coming. It was definitely hideous. It wasn't nearly as bad this time, it only happened once or twice- the night she was born, and then randomly, three nights ago.
Do either of you get these bizarre heat rashes? It's exactly what my friend who is in menopause gets - big red heat rash of the face or neck or arm. I cannot wear anything remotely warm or I'll get them. suuucks. It's 28 degrees and I can't wear socks. It's like my inner core is so hot because of the nursing that if I can't nurse immediately when I need to, bam. But no one else I know has this. But I didn't get the night sweats!
@Kathy - you may have warned me about the sweats I associated them with pregnancy more than afterwards though. It didn't happen last night which was good.
@Donna - My chest and neck get blotchy and red when I get hot but that isn't limited to the night sweats or nursing. It's just a product of my awesome complexion.
