inconsequential decisions

Back in June, I gave Robbin 3 paint samples and asked which one he would like for the nursery. They were all variations on yellow from a lemon chiffon to a bright yellow. And of course the color blind man who has difficulty seeing colors choose the most intense colors. I didn't have to follow his preference, I certainly don't many other household decorating choices but I did in this case. I must have also thought it was a good idea. So, I painted the room bright yellow. And it's kind of grown on me, especially since all the green trim is now gone. Here's a visual....

I really wanted a nursery that wasn't themed and also wasn't gender specific. I figured primary colors might be the way to go. Yellow walls would be the start and we'd add on from there. I already had an old poster with colorful squares on it that would look great.

Then I found this wonderful Adirondacks poster. And I realized it was sentimental and the perfect way to bring the room together with the yellow I was starting to doubt.

And then I forgot all about it when buying the chair and side table. So, the nursery looks like this now:

I waver between loving and hating it. I may just keep it as it is. Or I may take down the colored squares, hang the ADK poster, get a new red cushion for the chair ($30) and get a different side table ($7.99). (Gotta love IKEA).

You may ask, well what about the bedding? Crib bedding these days is pretty basic. You shouldn't use bumpers, blankets, or pillows based on SIDS risk. We have a pale yellow and a pale blue sheet. I plan on making a crib skirt once I make a darn decision about the rest of the nursery.

Oh, and window treatments? We'll be putting in white wooden blinds. We have them in every other room up stairs so it seems like the right thing to do. I may add a valance after that.

It's a lot easier to think about this rather than pour through the information to choose a pediatrician so here I am, in debate with myself over something the baby will not care about and has no real consequence to anyone.

well, it's also actually FUN, and I mean, there's so much that's stressful about having a baby, it's good to focus on the fun stuff, too!

and the room looks great:)
